In The Boundary of the Unbounded (《无界之界》), two seemingly distant narratives—intangible cultural heritage craftsmanship and modern manufacturing—enter into a cross-disciplinary dialogue through imagery. The feature focuses on traditional Chinese ceramics and contemporary automotive industrial design, which presented a unique dual challenge for subtitle translation: conveying ceramic craft terminology with precision while handling the specialized vocabulary of automotive engineering. Before the project kicked off, LI TRUST systematically mapped the vocabulary of both fields and worked with technical consultants to lock down standard translations for key terms. The English subtitles for international audiences were also produced by LI TRUST, using phrasing that is easier for Western viewers to follow and effectively lowering the comprehension barrier for non-specialist audiences. Final deliverables included bilingual Chinese-English subtitles, SRT and SCC format files, and proofread subtitle sample versions for use at international festivals and events.
