Middle-aged man Shohei Sugiyama (Kōji Yakusho) is an ordinary office worker. Diligent and successful in his career, he finds the nine-to-five routine empty and meaningless. One day after work, a tired Sugiyama happens to see through his car window a building across from the station, with a sign reading "Kishikawa Dance School." By the window stands a woman with a delicate face. Watching her gaze into the distance, Sugiyama is deeply drawn to her lonely expression.
A few days later, unable to suppress his curiosity, Sugiyama enters the dance school and begins learning ballroom dancing. The woman he saw turns out to be the instructor, Mai Kishikawa (Tamiyo Kusakari). Sugiyama gradually develops a genuine love for dancing, and he is not alone in enjoying the joy it brings — Aoki (Naoto Takenaka) and others share the same feeling. Under her guidance, they undergo intensive training for an upcoming dance competition, and Mai herself rekindles her passion for dancing...
