Xuanzang
Xuan Zang
Spanning a 10,000-mile journey west along the Silk Road, Xuanzang is an epic of faith and resolve. The film recreates Master Xuanzang's pilgrimage for Buddhist scriptures on a grand historical canvas. More than a historical epic, it is a spiritual biography that crosses cultural boundaries — and its subtitle translation carried far higher stakes than any routine commercial production.
When LI TRUST took on the multilingual subtitle production, it fully understood the specialized demands of Buddhist terminology and Tang-dynasty historical sources. Core terms such as "bodhi," "nirvana," and "prajna" have their own established conventions in each language. LI TRUST built a dedicated multilingual cross-reference database of Buddhist and historical vocabulary, ensuring that the English, Japanese, Korean, French, and other language versions all conform to the academic and professional standards of their respective languages. The subtitle team also verified the historical accuracy of place names along the Silk Road, marking every geographic reference in the film with both its ancient and modern names.
The full multilingual subtitle packages were delivered, supporting the film's worldwide distribution in theaters and at festivals.
