A five-square-meter cell, and the boundless creativity unleashed within extreme confinement — *2m²* is a documentary like no other, where the very conditions of its production become one of the film's most powerful elements. When the LI TRUST subtitling team took on this project, our first step was to understand the creative context behind the film. Only by grasping the circumstances of the shoot could we accurately translate every word spoken by the filmmakers under such extreme limitations. The film features extensive Persian dialogue that required relay translation. LI TRUST placed special emphasis on precision control of the information chain, engaging native bilingual experts in both Persian and Chinese to review the final version, ensuring no semantic loss occurred during the relay process. The subtitles were also tailored to the film's festival distribution needs, with versions in French, English, and Chinese, supporting its successful participation in multiple international film festivals.
