Coco (Chara), after strangling her twin sister, is sent to a psychiatric hospital. In this "special" place, she meets Kuron (Tadanobu Asano) and Satoru (Koichi Hashizume), and the three become friends. Kuron is there after accidentally killing a teacher who had repeatedly abused him, and is haunted by nightmares. Satoru is a delusional paranoid who has lost touch with reality.
One day, Coco and Kuron climb the hospital wall and venture into the outside world. The sound of hymns from a church stops them, and a kind pastor gives them a Bible. Kuron becomes convinced the world is ending, while Coco believes her own death will mark the true apocalypse. The three then climb the wall again and set off together to wait for the end of the world.
