David Bowie's vocals, Jim Henson's puppets, and the 1986 fantasy that captivated millions—*Labyrinth* sits at the intersection of musical and fantasy genres, making its subtitling far more complex than a standard narrative film. LI TRUST's biggest challenge was translating the song lyrics. The several songs performed by David Bowie not only drive the plot but form the emotional backbone of the entire film. The lyric translation had to meet four criteria simultaneously: rhyming, syllable matching (for dubbing reference), literal accuracy, and emotional tone alignment. Using frame-accurate timecode technology, we delivered complete bilingual subtitles for both lyrics and dialogue, along with an English-only version for international festivals. The final deliverables included SRT, SCC, and ASS formats, with simplified and traditional Chinese bilingual versions provided simultaneously, enabling the digital restoration of this film to achieve a global multilingual re-release.
