*Licorice Pizza* is Paul Thomas Anderson's deeply personal love letter to 1970s Los Angeles, saturated with California slang, period-specific vernacular, and nuanced references to the era's pop culture. Subtitling a film like this is often the most time-consuming link in the localization chain — the translator must grasp not only the literal meaning of each line but also the cultural temperature behind it. For this project, LI TRUST assembled a dedicated team with a background in 1970s American pop culture studies. References to Golden Age Hollywood actors, depictions of the record industry, and the characters' dialogue rhythms — oscillating between distance and intimacy — were all handled with care in the translation. Subtitles were delivered in SRT, VTT, and SCC formats to meet the technical requirements of theatrical, streaming, and festival distribution. A Traditional Chinese version was completed simultaneously to support the film's release in Taiwan and Hong Kong.
