In a quiet London neighborhood, a social worker tasked with handling unclaimed bodies searches for next of kin behind every death file — *Still Life* explores themes of solitude and dignity through an extremely restrained visual language. When LI TRUST took on the Chinese subtitle localization for this British independent film, we recognized the unique demands such a film places on translation. The dialogue is sparse, silence often speaks louder than words, and every line carries emotional weight far beyond its literal meaning. The translator had to find a Chinese equivalent of "saying half, leaving half" — allowing the subtitles themselves to become part of the film's visual storytelling. LI TRUST conducted a full emotional tone analysis, from the choice of interjections to punctuation usage, ensuring precise localization at every detail. Deliverables included SCC subtitle files tailored for theatrical release, as well as an English proofread version suitable for international festivals.
