"Sorry, Baby" explores trauma and healing from an intensely personal perspective. The film's extensive use of internal monologue and fragmented narrative posed a core challenge for subtitle translation. Films of this type carry significant subtext beyond literal meaning, requiring the translator to strike a precise balance between "explaining" and "leaving room." LI TRUST's subtitle team conducted an in-depth textual analysis of the film, building a psychological profile for each character before translation to ensure consistent tone across different emotional scenes. Certain dialogues deliberately employ incomplete sentence structures and non-logical expressions—these features were intentionally preserved in the Chinese subtitles to maintain the same psychological atmosphere for the audience. LI TRUST also provided a full annotation document explaining the rationale behind key translation decisions, for the distributor's archive and reference. The final deliverables were in SRT and SCC formats, covering both streaming and theatrical screening scenarios.
